I’m Not Feeling You New York Senate Seat Vacancy

So, if Hillary’s gonna be Secretary of State, then that means that Governor Paterson gets to appoint our next Senator. Patterson wasn’t elected either, so New York State will have the number of elected state-wide officials considered appropriate in… say, North Korea.

So who should it be?  Bill Clinton? State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo? US Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand? Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown? Tom from MySpace? Jay-Z? Call the Governor at 518-474-8390 and suggest something really crazy. He’ll appreciate it. I’m going with Alf.

  1. It is not true that David Patterson wasn’t elected. He WAS elected as Lt. Governor. Part of the constitutionally mandated repsonsibilities of the Lt. Governor is to take over if the Governor is not able to fulfill his full term.

  2. I’m going with Jean Claude Van Damme

  3. I’m going with Salim Chishti.

  4. I know who he *shouldn’t* pick: Bill Clinton. If his wife was champing at the bit at having to remain the junior senator from NY, imagine how Bill the egomaniac would feel. So, that ain’t gonna happen.

If only to get rid of him from the office of Attorney-General, where he is doing so much harm to Internet civil liberties, Patterson should appoint Andrew Cuomo. For a positive pick, though, he should go with Nydia Velazquez, she’d be a twofer, a woman and a Hispanic.
